This session was extra special for me! We have been friends with this family for 12 years. We met in East Texas at a “young marrieds” Sunday school at our church. We then transitioned turned into “young families.” That turned into moving from Texas to Georgia at the same time, only 2 months apart (squeeeee!!!). We had been trying to get a family session together for them over the fall, but then she had asked since fall turned into winter if we could do a lifestyle session in their home, which I was ALL for, because I love lifestyle sessions (and we photographers love out of the ordinary).
Right after we had discussed a lifestyle home session, we realized that this would be much more than a family session. This was going to be the moment they give their boys some BIG news! One of the things we had envisioned (before this news was discovered) was the family reading a book on their bed, like they do every night. I had the perfect book to help them share the change coming for their family and their boys. Charlie and the New Baby by Ree Drummond. We got some great family photos around the house and the everyday things they do like play games at the dinner table, but I also got to capture the special moment my friends told their boys that their family was growing.
This is the stuff my photographer’s heart lives for. I was able to do this for my friends, and it made my heart so happy and pulled me out of the slum of busy life, busy fall season, and an overboard of things to get done. This filled my heart so much! It stirred up the reason why I pick up my camera for others.
