I have been dying to shoot a maternity session among these beautiful Cherry Blossom Trees ever since we moved to Atlanta! I have been a part of some organized styled shoots and for the spring I offered one of my gowns (and child dresses) and asked my friend, Ashley, if she would like to be our model! Ashley was every bit as gorgeous as I knew she would be and what a beautiful family she shares with her husband!
The sun was completely covered by clouds when we arrived, and the blossoms glowed in the overcast light. But as the sun peeked through to shine bright during some of the images and I rolled with it! After all, coming back from Click Away, shooting in harsh light was a very popular theme shared and learned by so many, I wanted to try my take on it! It was fun to shoot in full sun and try something a little different, and the outcome was most definitely success!
It was a crowded day and when my favorite spot was available toward the end, the sun decided to tuck under the clouds again, and we were losing light fast with a storm rolling in. But oh, mama! I’m in love!
I can’t wait for next year and as these trees only bloom for a couple of weeks! Cherry Blossoms don’t really exists in Texas (where I was born and raised), and while I am seriously missing my wild-flower prairies and Bluebonnets, I love finding new traditions to take pictures with year after year! You wouldn’t believe that we were basically in a parking lot! I would love to hear about the blooms, or photo traditions you have that you come back to year after year!
